Navigating the world's airports in the most delicious way

BOS

Boston Logan International Airport

Boston is one of my most favorite cities to visit. The incredible history and charm of this city are easy to love, and the locals are ultimate historians- I mean who doesn’t love a good Boston accent? Boston is also an incredible food city. Fill up on the authentic Italian flair of the North End (OMG Cannoli’s), an abundance of fresh seafood, Dim Sum in Chinatown and Clam/Lobster Rolls as far as the eye can see. In the city, be sure to check out Saltie Girl for some New England Seafood with a contemporary twist, Modern Pastry for a Cannoli that will knock you out and breakfast at Mike & Patty’s for an incredible breakfast sandwich on the go. On the Airport front, BOS can be a little tough to navigate as it is an older airport with many different terminals, so arrive with plenty of time to enjoy one last taste of New England with a great backdrop, the beautiful Boston Skyline. Here’s where you can find some wicked good eats:

Legal Sea Foods (Terminals A, B, C & E)

For beginners, there are 7, yes SEVEN Legal Sea Foods locations at Logan. No matter where you are in the airport, you’ll run in to one of them. Legal is my #1 go to when it comes to the salty-sweet world of chain restaurants and I never turn down the opportunity to stop for a quick bite. Grab a quick cup of Clam Chowder, some fried clams or the Thai Calamari. Hold on to your boat shoes- they will even sell you live lobsters packaged for carry-on ease to take home with you! Find it at Logan, literally everywhere, also see “Legal C Bar” and “Legal Test Kitchen” for a little more variety.

Potbelly BOS

Potbelly Sandwich Shop (Terminals C, Departures)

If you’re needing to warm up on a cold New England day, a hot & toasty treat from Potbelly will do the trick and fuel your day ahead. I’m a sucker for their pizza sandwich, chicken salad and Mediterranean Chicken. They have great healthier options- Vegetarian Sandwiches and a “Skinny Menu” with options around he 300-350 calorie mark. Excellent soups & sides plus decadent cookies for dessert.

Bonus Round!

Belle Isle Seafood- 10 min drive from BOS 1 Main Street, Winthrop, MA 02152

Every once in a while, you run across a place that is too good to be true. A place that serves up food in a specific setting in a way that you’ll never forget. Belle Isle Seafood is one of those places. While it’s not directly on Airport property, it sits directly on the harbor right under the approach for runway 22L, so if traffic is landing to the Southwest, you’ll have an incredible view of the big birds up close! This place is a true taste of New England. Their Lobster Roll is all meat (mostly claw) with light mayo, a crisp piece of iceberg lettuce piled on top of a buttery roll. It will rock your world. Another favorite are their fried belly clams- nice and plump with a light breading, served best with fries & onion rings and dunked in their amazing tartar sauce. It’s easy to visit here before a flight, on a layover greater than 2 hours or as a first taste of New England after arriving in Boston. It’s about a 10 minute ride from the airport with easy parking. Word to the wise: it can take a while to get an Uber here since you’re essentially out on a peninsula, so plan to wait around 10 minutes. Security at BOS can be intense- make sure you’re back at the airport at LEAST 1 hour prior to departure!

Take-away

Boston is a city that should be high on any hungry traveler’s list- the city is a staple in the American Story, set in beautiful New England. Whether you’re here for business or pleasure, a trip to Boston is always a good idea.
