ORD

Chicago-O’Hare International Airport

Chicago is one of the best food cities in the US of A. I am always up for a delicious trip up to the Windy City and have some great recommendations for in-city dining (Au Cheval is an absolute must every time), but, alas I am here to tell you how to eat like a damn champ in one of the nations busiest hubs. Here’s my top 3- Run, Run Rudolph!

Tortas Frontera (K4)

Chef Rick Bayless wins the fast food game at ORD. Tortas Frontera features a delicious line up of Mexican Tortas (gringo speak- tasty sandwiches), soups and salads. Great for a quick meal on the go. My favorite here is the Milanesa sandwich- crispy chicken with a black bean spread, pickled jalapeños, queso fresco, avocado and cilantro crema.

Publican Tavern (K1)

A newer addition to the lineup at ORD, Publican Tavern is right in the middle of the connector between Concourses H, K & L. I love the Publican Anker in the city, so I was excited to see this show up at the airport. Atmosphere is cool and definitely feels like the locations in the city- great tile and woodwork and a panoramic view of the planes coming and going. I’ve only been here for breakfast, but I was won over by their Eggs Benedict (pictured)- two poached eggs bathed in a Red Wine Hollandaise on country bread with a side of prosciutto and arugula salad. I am a sucker for a good benny and this one passes muster. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner- I will be back for another meal soon!

Garrett Popcorn Shops (Terminals 1 & 3)

No one will judge you for making a meal out of a bag of Garrett Popcorn’s Chicago Mix! Buttery & Cheesy Cheese Popcorn mixed with sweet and luscious caramel popcorn are the real draw here. Sweet and salty amazingness. Find it on the Terminal 1 & 3 connectors. Bring some home to family and friends, you will rock their world!
